Chelsea’s Russian owner Roman Abramovich has said that he has made the "incredibly difficult" decision to sell the Premier League club and proceeds would go to victims of the war in Ukraine.   The Russian billionaire says he believes it is in the "best interest" of the Champions League holders if he parts ways with the club which he bought it in 2003.   Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss claims he has been offered the chance to buy the club.   Abramovich is owed £1.5billion by Chelsea after buying the club in a £140m deal in 2003, but says he will not ask for any of the loans to be repaid.   Abramovich is attempting to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, according to his spokesperson, and says he has instructed his team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale of Chelsea will be donated for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine.   Abramovich's full statement reads: "I would like to addres...

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution that “demands” Russia’s “immediately” withdrawal from Ukraine. This represents a powerful rebuke of Moscow’s invasion by most of the world’s nations. After over two days of extraordinary debate, 141 out of 193 member States voted for the non-binding resolution. However, at least five countries took sides with Russia. They are: Eritrea, North Korea, Syria, Belarus and Russia. About 35 countries – mainly African nations – abstained from voting. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) maintains that it will not back down on the current industrial action, accusing the Federal Government of not keeping to its promises.  President of the union, Emmanuel Osodeke said this on Monday, more than two weeks after ASUU declared a one-month warning strike over the Federal Government’s inability to honour its agreement with the body. “For the past nine years or so, they have been giving us promises but once the strike is over, they relapse,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige. “So, our colleagues are tired of these promises which they don’t fulfill. What we want is actions,” the ASUU leader told Channels Television’s breakfast show,  Sunrise Daily.

Two student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University were killed by unknown people but the police are still investigating on the matter

 Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of two students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.  The decomposing bodies(male and female) of the victims were found in a room at their hostel after security agents, in collaboration with the parents of one of the victims, forcefully broke the door on Sunday.  The probable cause of their death was hinged on generator fumes which was reportedly perceived when the door to their room was opened.
